Production Process of Nickel Pipe
Raw material selection: The process begins with the selection of high-quality raw materials. Nickel, along with other alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, and iron, is carefully chosen to meet specific chemical compositions. This selection is critical to achieving the desired mechanical and chemical properties of the final product.
Melting and alloying: The selected raw materials are melted in an electric arc furnace or vacuum induction furnace. During this stage, precise control over temperature and composition ensures a homogenous melt. The molten metal is then refined to remove impurities, resulting in a high-purity alloy.
Casting: The refined alloy is cast into ingots or billets, which serve as the starting material for tube production. Continuous casting or traditional ingot casting methods are used, depending on the desired product specifications.
Finishing: The tubes are subjected to various finishing operations, including straightening, cutting, and surface treatment. These steps ensure the tubes meet the required dimensional tolerances and surface quality standards.
Hot and cold working: The ingots or billets undergo hot working processes such as extrusion or rolling to form the basic tube shape. These processes involve high temperatures to make the metal more malleable. Subsequent cold working, including drawing and pilgering, further reduces the tube dimensions and enhances its mechanical properties.
Heat treatment: Heat treatment processes like annealing are applied to relieve internal stresses, refine the microstructure, and enhance the mechanical properties of the tubes. Precise control of temperature and cooling rates during heat treatment is crucial to achieving the desired characteristics.
Inspection of Nickel pipe

Pipe weld quality tests
Assessment of nickel pipe weld quality shall be performed byeither the fattening test or the guided bend test.Test specimensshall be selected randomly from each lot of pipe manufactured. Test plates of the same material May be attached to the pipe andwelded as prolongations of the pipe longitudinal seam.
Hydrostatic test of nickel welded pipe
Each length of pipe shall withstand, without showingbulges, leaks, or other defects, an internal hydrostatic pressurethat will produce in the pipe wall a stress of 50 % of theminimum specifed yield strength at room temperature.
Flattening test of welded pipe
Welded pipe in the fnal conditionshall be capable of withstanding, without cracking, fatteningunder a load applied gradually at room temperature until thedistance between the load platens is h inches. The weld shall be positioned at either 90° or 270° to the direction of the applied load.
